About JoSAA

JoSAA refers to the Joint Seat Allocation Authority. The very first meeting of JoSAA was held on 2 May 2015 at IIT-Bombay campus. JoSAA is nothing but a memorandum that was established in the lead of various boards that embark on the charge of admitting the students in IIITs, IITs, NITs, GFTIs, ISM Dhanbad, etc. With the help of the Joint Seat Allocation Authority, a homogeneous admission process will be followed for admitting the students in 32000 seats at the 80 top-notch engineering institutions of the country.

The major JoSAA participating institutes include all the IITs, IIITs, NITs, GFTIs and ISM Dhanbad. The process of Joint seat allocation initiated on last week of June 2017 for all the students. A common platform was agreed upon for accepting the applications of the candidates. All the candidates had to apply online on the official website of the board. The national informatics centre was appointed for setting up a website that would be efficient enough to accept the applications from thousands of candidates at a time without lagging behind.

Prior to the establishment of JoSAA, the valuable seats at a number of institutions used to hang about unoccupied for the reason that the applicants used to maintain it as their backup plan if they had other choices in mind. Centralization has helped at a very large extent as it will help in filling all the seats with the students, without wasting any seat that could have been given to a deserving candidate. Only if a candidate wants to apply with JoSAA, it is important that he must have done well in qualifying JEE Main 2017 or JEE Advanced 2017 examinations.

JoSAA opening and closing rank for 3rd round will be updated on 7th July, If you want to check second opening and closing rank then check the link given below.
